Getting to SH
We Recommend Driving
There is limited public transportation to Stone Harbor, only a NJ Transit bus that runs a few times a day. The easiest and quickest way to SH is to drive. Exit 10 off the Garden State Parkway! Livin’ the dream.
Nearby Airports
The closest airport is Atlantic City, however flights are limited and you’d probably have an expensive (and limited) Uber to SH. We’d recommend flying into Philly (PHL), and driving from there. It’s about an 1.5hr drive from Philadelphia in general.
Drive the Speed Limit
Don’t Drive Over 25mph!
We wish we were kidding, but we’re not. You'll get pulled over. Our cops are bored in this town. Stick to 25 & under!!
The Jitney
Getting around via the Jitney
Stone Harbor has a jitney (party bus, late night!) that loops between SH and Avalon. It's a great way to get around the island when you want to travel to Avalon, or want to be safe if you're having some beers!
Heads up that the Jitney is free during the day, and then either $2 or $4 per ride! Check out below for details on how to get from SH to downtown Avalon or Icona for times outside of our wedding:
Staying at Icona Avalon?
Find your way to the beach bar at Icona, and walk across 79th street to the Windrift. You can walk along the path between the beach dunes and the hotel. The jitney will pick you up outside of the Windrift hotel entrance right near the beach. (80th St & the beach)
Staying at Seaward, Stone Harbor Inn, or Colonial?
Walk to the corner of 96th Street & 3rd Avenue & wait on the corner. Flag it down!
Staying between 97th St. & 121st St.?
You'll need to walk to 96th Street to catch the Jitney (annoying, we know), but unfortunately the jitneys do not run past 96th St. in SH.
Staying between 96th Street & 21st Street?
Walk to the corner of your street & 3rd Ave (ie: 89th St. & 3rd Ave). Flag down the jitney on the corner! If it's too crowded, you'll have to wait for the next one to arrive.
Coming from downtown Avalon, say…the Princeton? :)
Leaving the Princeton (“the P”) late night?
Just wait outside on 2nd Ave & you’ll see jitney’s lined up. Be sure to catch the last one by 1:30am or 1:45am - bar’s close at 2:00am!
